Public Safety – Clean Neighborhoods & Youth Engagement
- When I become councilwoman of Ward 3 I will form a Safety Consortium which will
consist of 2-3 vocal residents on each street. That group will be known as the Ward 3
Leadership Team. They will be the eyes and ears of the neighborhood and will work with me to
address community issues.
- I will also conduct safe walk throughs with the police, neighborhood leaders and myself
to complete a full scale assessment of the neighborhood to determine the full scope of safety
needs (i.e. glass block windows, safety cameras, safe sidewalks, potholes in the streets,
abandoned homes)
- I will then provide a SAFETY CHECKLIST for the leaders to take back to their neighbors
to ensure that the most critical issues are addressed.
- I will ensure that the cameras are actually working in the neighborhoods and that there
are not any dummy cameras, they are ineffective, if we know they exist, the criminal element
does as well.
- As Councilwoman of Ward 3, I will establish a youth council made up of representatives
from each neighborhood to identify the resource and workforce development needs of our
youth. I will also partner with local businesses to establish employment opportunities for our youth.
Safety is GLOBAL!
